Quick Holiday Skincare Routine

Quick Holiday Skincare Routine

The holiday season is a perfect time to jumpstart a better skincare routine. When the weather is dry and cold, your skin can begin to flake or break out. This is awful, especially at a time when you want to look you best for family photos and holiday social media pics. In order to keep your skin just as glowing in the winter as it is in the summer, you need to provide it with proper care, including this essential skincare routine:

Step 1. Exfoliate - We all know we should exfoliate, but how often do you actually do it? Is exfoliation a part of your regular skincare routine, or do you only do it as a special skincare treatment? If you don’t exfoliate at least once a week, you’re doing your skin a disservice. Exfoliation is important to remove dead skin cells that are flaking due to dry weather. You can purchase a high-quality exfoliation scrub, or you can make your own using ingredients such as:

  • Sugar (cane, granulated, or brown sugar)
  • Honey
  • Coconut or olive oil
  • Tea tree essential oil (a powerful antibacterial)

Step 2. Moisturize - During the winter, you can combat dryness by moisturizing every single day after washing. Moisture will tend to leave your skin more quickly during the winter because humidity levels are much lower. You can prevent flaking and dullness of the complexion by moisturizing every day before makeup application.

Step 3. Wash your brushes BEFORE makeup application - When you don’t clean your makeup brushes, you risk putting old makeup, bacteria, and dead skin back onto your freshly exfoliated and moisturized face. This leads to more breakouts despite an otherwise healthy skincare routine. Take time to clean your brushes once a week, especially those used for liquid makeup such as foundation or concealer. If you haven’t cleaned your brushes in a while and want an upgrade, pick up a new set from Nuest.

Step 4. Reduce dullness with highlighter - In addition to dryness and flaking, you’ll have to battle dullness of complexion during the winter. In the summer, it’s easy to achieve a natural glow with moisturizer. However, during the winter, you'll have to put in a little more effort. When you highlight, your holiday glow will certainly show on camera. Try these fall looks for your holiday party or photoshoot, and don’t forget to add a Nuest jelly highlighter to each one.

By adding these four steps to your skincare and makeup routine, you can totally slay this holiday season. You can also follow us or sign up for our email list to stay up-to-date on holiday sales at Nuest.
